The talk will review estimates of magnetic helicity dissipation in high magnetic Reynolds number plasmas. Mean field dynamo theory sometimes assumes that the helicity of the fluctuating field is efficiently dissipated; this assumption will be investigated. Cancellation of positive and negative helicity can remove helicity even when dissipation is negligible. Some estimates for magnetic helicity cancellation at the solar equator will be discussed.
