The investigation of flow phenomena in fluids controlled by moderate magnetic fields is opening up a field of basic research and the design of technical applications. Starting with a Topical Team in 1998, this MAP project was established to develop an experiment unit for the investigation of magnetically-driven flow effects in ferrofluids-suspensions of nano-sized magnetic particles in appropriate carriers. Hardware development is under way, aiming for a space flight in 2006.
