A compact rotation shearing interferometer that records incoherent holograms has been developed for astronomical image reconstruction. Strong optical aberrations are used as the bases of its operation, using holograms that are taken either of a reference source through the same shear, or of the same source through a different shear. Attention is also given to a novel method, based on phase-closure relations, which obviates the use of a reference source. A CCD camera is used to record two interferograms of the same point source through the same aberrations.
