This talk charts the implementation of the resolutions of the 24^th International Astronomical Union in 2000 (IAU 2000) in The Astronomical Almanac (AsA), a joint publication of HM Nautical Almanac Office (HMNAO) and the Nautical Almanac Office of the US Naval Observatory (USNO). The aspects of the resolutions that will be discussed are (a) the implementation of IAU 2000 precession-nutation theory, and (b) the recommendation to use what is now called the Celestial Intermediate Origin (CIO) as the origin for right ascension. It is only when new concepts are fully considered, the software tools developed and an established nomenclature exists that a new algorithm may be introduced successfully into any almanac. I will highlight these areas, in the context of Section B - Time-scales and Coordinate Systems, the section of the AsA which covers these topics, and for which HMNAO is responsible.
