Einstein's field equations of gravitation in presence of matter are presented in the form of a discrete functional from which, after performing an extremization process, a system of nonlinear algebraic equations arises. On this basis, a 4-dimensional finite element is developed and in the case of spherical symmetry and time-independence, a numerical example is carried out.
