Different formation mechanisms are considered for the formation in globular clusters of ultra-short period binaries containing a neutron star and a white dwarf. Collisions between neutron stars and (red or horizontal-branch) giants are the most efficient mechanism. Only one ultra-short binary presently active as an X-ray source is expected among the 12 bright sources known in globular clusters. The possibility of forming a wide wind-driven X-ray binary is also discussed.
