A discussion is given of star-formation sites in the Galaxy, particularly groups of H alpha-emission stars associated with bright and dark nebulosity. Some new spurs and structural features of the local spiral arm are delineated. This arm constitutes a bundle of several ramified systems whose branches partially merge with contiguous spiral arms.
