Scientific paper

Methods of compiling a composite catalog of absolute proper motions of
stars are discussed. It is shown that by combining stars in a composite
catalog the precision of the absolute proper motions will be improved in
terms of both random and systematic errors. Such a catalog could be used
to study the grouped motion of stars in the Galaxy
