It is physically plausible that the fadings of the variable star R CrB might be connected with pulsation in the star. In order to test a claim (Goncharrova et al., 1983) that the times of onset of fadings of R CrB are phase locked to a 39.96-day period, the following analysis was performed. A complete and homogeneous list of the times of such onsets was compiled, and then these times were analyzed for phase locking using the Rayleigh statistical test. The times were also tested, somewhat less rigorously, for phase locking to a slowly changing period in the vicinity of 40 or 50 days, pulsation periods suggested by other observers. Although there is some tendency for fadings to appear to be phase locked to a period in the vicinity of 40 + or - 10 days, the effect is not statistically significant, and is probably due to the fact that a very small number of high-weight fadings happen to be separated by intervals in the vicinity of 50 or 100 days.
