An updated list of BL Lac objects taken from the catalog of QSOs and BL Lac objects which we have recently compiled is given in Table I. Redshifts of about one-third are known. The majority of these have redshifts which can be attributed to underlying galaxies. A plot of the Hubble diagram for these objects suggests that all of them in this class lie in bright galaxies with Mv = -22.5. They are easily distinguished from those BL Lac objects which show weak broad emission lines or high-redshift absorption systems. In the conclusion, a brief discussion of the characteristics of the different types of objects classified as BL Lac objects is given.
