Photographic Coude spectroscopy of the 5780 and 5797 A diffuse
interstellar absorption bands shows these features to be unusually weak
with respect to reddening towards three stars in the CMa R1 association.
One of these, the Herbig Be star HD 53367, represents the clearest
example so far found of a diffuse band anomaly.
