The masses of two Mira variables and three semiregular long-period variable stars are determined to within 10 to 20 percent using calculations of their dynamic parallaxes based on the mass-luminosity relationship. From orbital elements and dynamic parallaxes of the supergiant variable stars and their companions, masses of 15.7, 17.0, 15.5, 15.8 and 15.9 solar masses for the primaries in the Mira, Eta Geminorum, Antares, Alpha Herculis and X Ophiuchi systems, respectively, are obtained, with densities no greater than 2 x 10 to the -6th times that of the sun. The suggestion that some of the primaries may themselves be double or even triple stars is presented to explain irregularities in the observed magnitudes and motions of the systems, and it is also noted that certain of them may at times behave as symbiotic stars.
