Field-aligned current closure in the vicinity, of the Harang discontinuities is studied, by combining data from the Stare auroral radar system and the Triad satellite. The purpose of the method is to obtain a better understanding of the interrelationship between the ionospheric electric field and field-aligned currents in a complex environment. It is found that by combining Stare and Triad data one can obtain latitudinal profiles of ionospheric Joule heating and the height-integrated Pedersen conductivity.
