Photometric observations of variations in the optical flux from the quasar NAB 0137-01 are reported. Photoelectric UBV photometry was obtained using a 1.3-m and a 0.9-m telescope. Observations indicate that the brightness of the quasar rose abruptly by approximately 0.04 magnitudes between Sept. 25 and Sept. 27, 1978, suggesting an upper limit of 0.00168 pc to the size of the optical source region. A comparison of the magnitudes and colors of NAB 0137-01 with previously obtained values indicates that the object has declined by approximately 0.75 magnitudes in approximately two years, with no significant color variations. Observations made in September 1979 reveal that the quasar was undergoing a major outburst, a total detectable optical range of 1.42 magnitudes, indicating an OVV classification has been observed. Further observations of the object are suggested in order to detect any radio or X-ray events related to the optical outburst.
