In this paper the combined results of observations of NGC 4258 obtained with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope (WSRT) and the 100 m Telescope of the Max-Planck Institut für Radio-Astronomie in Bonn (MPIfR), both in 21 cm line and continuum, are presented. The reduction of the data is described. An analysis of the data presented here will be given in papers II and III which are to appear in the Main Journal.
