An exact solution for the problem of the time-dependent transfer of resonance line radiation in an infinite homogeneous medium after momentum excitation of atoms is obtained. The continuum absorption and time lag due to finite light velocity and due to damping of radiation are taken into account. The scattering is assumed to be completely redistributed in frequency. The asymptotic behaviour of the degree of atomic excitation and of the radiation field are investigated.
