The process of interstellar dust particle coagulation during thermal collisions is investigated in the case where the particle velocity distribution is governed by their interaction with the ambient gas (a Maxwellian distribution). Conditions for the capture of one dust particle by another are analyzed, and a solution to the coagulation equation for charged dust particles is obtained which takes into account the effect of the interstellar magnetic field. Dust coagulation in the Orion Nebula is examined numerically for both graphite and silicate particles.
