For decades Supernovae have been believed to be among the most energetic phenomena occurring in the Universe after the Big Bang. In the recent years observations from both satellites and ground based telescopes have allowed to discover that comparable amounts of energy are released by Gamma-Ray Bursts and that these two classes of events have a deep connection. In this article we review the observational status of the supernova/gamma-ray burst connection and highlight the open questions.
