New UBV photometry of stars in the southern open clusters NGC 4349, 5316, and 6494 is presently used to derive reddenings, distances, and abundances; the application of two criteria for photometric membership has led to the ability to discriminate between red field objects and physical members of these clusters. No clear evidence of CNO enhancement is found in any of the clusters. The mass results obtained suggest that the cluster giants could have undergone mass loss during their red giant evolutionary phase.
