Basic physical parameters are computed for an idealized galaxy consisting of a bulge population whose projected luminosity obeys the 1/4 power of distance law and a disk population obeying an exponential law. The space density of luminosity in the equatorial plane is given along with the circular rotation curve for constant mass-to-light ratios in both components. This method is applied to the galaxies M31 and M81, and the principal result obtained is that the M/L ratio of the bulge populations is rather small.
