The long period X ray variability of X ray binaries (H M X R B) and the long period outbursts observed in many SU UMa type cataclysmic variables are examined. It is the nonradial g-mode oscillations of the primary star in these binaries. A correlation is obtained between the long periods and the binary periods of H M X R Bs and SU UMa stars are derived.
