An analysis is presented of the evolution of the radio emission of the BL Lacertae object AO 0235+164 during the Nov. 1975 outburst which coincided with the optical and infrared event reported by Kinman and Rieke (1976). The characteristics of the observed emission are consistent with the synchrotron radiation process. The linear-polarization data indicate no significant difference between the observed position angles at 8 and 14.5 GHz, in agreement with the hypothesis that there is no Faraday rotation in the source. There is evidence of a direct association between the optical and radio-emitting regions. The observations are qualitatively consistent with a relativistic expansion of the source.
