Formulas are presented for the intensity of scattered radiation in a two-dimensional semi-infinite atmosphere illuminated by parallel rays. The calculation of diffuse radiation fluxes in a semi-infinite atmosphere and the depth-distribution of absorbed energy is reduced to finding the radiation source function. Milne's classical problem of astrophysics - a semi-infinite atmosphere with sources at infinity - is considered.
