Visual and photographic observations of meteors are known to be less accurate than radar observations. It is shown, however, that if the distribution of meteor radiants over the celestial sphere is plotted against the radiant's angle of elongation, the accuracy of photographic and radar observations is much alike for a specific mass range. This is demonstrated by a comparison of the geocentric distributions of sporadic-meteor radiants and velocities plotted against the angle of elongation, obtained by the two methods.
