We report the discovery of hot horizontal branch stars in the nuclear bulge of the Milky Way. Spectra from the 2dF instrument of the Anglo-Australian Telescope allow us to estimate temperatures for these stars, and confirm through radial velocities their membership in the bulge. We review also the current observational information on hot HB stars in Milky Way clusters and in the Local Group, and discuss the relevance of these star-by-star studies for the Ultraviolet-excess problem seen in large ellipticals.
