M104 is a spiral galaxy on the border of Virgo and Corvus, popularly termed the SOMBRERO GALAXY because of its resemblance to a wide-brimmed Mexican hat. M104 is a spiral galaxy of type Sa (or possibly intermediate between Sa and Sb), seen only about 6 degrees from edge-on.
