M42 is better known as the ORION NEBULA. It is a huge (four times the
area of the full Moon), bright (4 mag) diffuse nebula which constitutes
the main part of a still larger cloud extending well over half the
constellation of Orion. This cloud also contains M43, Barnard's Loop,
the Horsehead Nebula and the reflection nebula around M87....
