HR 4693 is a fifth-magnitude K2 III star whose radial-velocity nature
has been the subject of conflicting ideas. It is shown here to be a
spectroscopic binary of small amplitudes, less than 2 km/s; the orbit is
quite eccentric and has a period of 16 years.
