The status of the collaboration between the Pulkovo Observatory and the U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO) on the compilation of the Southern Reference Star (SRS) catalog is described. Results of comparisons between the data bases and the preliminary compiled SRS catalogs of the two observatories are discussed. Characteristics of the jointly compiled catalog are given.
