The elastoviscous impacts between bodies covered with a thick regolith shell are considered to be one of the possible mechanisms of the angular rotation of asteroids. The rotational velocity due to the single shock of similar sized bodies is proportional to the ratio of the diameter of the asteroid central monolith core to its total diameter. The observed V-shape distribution function of the rotation velocities of asteroids in terms of diameter has a minimum at D of about 100 km.
