The observational subsystems of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) are discussed. The mirror system of the HST is described, and the designs and missions of the Wide Field/Planetary Camera, Faint Object Camera, Faint Object Spectrograph, High Resolution Spectrograph, High Speed Photometer, and Fine Guidance Sensors are addressed. The astronomical projects that will be undertaken using the HST are examined.
