Two eclipses of VZ Scl have been observed photometrically, one of them with simultaneous spectroscopic coverage. The first eclipse, which occurred some time after VZ Scl had emerged from a low state, shows an apparent total eclipse of the accretion disc. This enables the authors to determine parameters for the disc more restrictively than usual. Its size is comparable with that of inviscid discs. By the time of the second eclipse the disc had apparently expanded to produce the normal partial eclipse. Maximum entropy method eclipse maps of the disc during each eclipse are presented in support of this conclusion. Eclipse details of the emission lines indicate either the presence of a non-Keplerian motion in the outer disc or the extension of emitting material to considerable heights above the disc.
