The authors report the results of HEAO 1 hard X-ray measurements of three clusters of galaxies, Abell 401, Abell 2255, and Abell 2256. Nonthermal components were not detected above the level of 10-5photons cm-2s-1keV-1. Comparison of these flux upper limits with theoretical predictions yields lower limits of about 10-7gauss on the mean value of the intracluster magnetic fields in the central regions of these clusters.
