Observations of Pluto were made in February 1985 using the European Southern Observatory (ESO) astrograph (GPO = Grande Prisme Objectif,f= 4 m, d = 40 cm) at La Silla. Measurement and reduction of the plates were performed at the Royal Observatory of Belgium (Uccle-Brussels) with the Ascorecord measuring machine with a positional accuracy of 0.1 μm. The position of Pluto was determined relative to the position of five reference stars.
