The Walraven photometric system has been used to derive distances to stars of spectral types earlier than A7. The details of the observing procedure are given, and the way the data were analyzed is described. The accuracy of the data is discussed, and the results are compared with those of Gathier et al. (1986). The observational results for stars in eight well-studied star cluster are presented, compared with the literature, and discussed.
