On the basis of a new radial velocity survey achieved with the CORAVEL spectrometer, the kinematics of late spectral-type supergiants has been investigated. On a distance range of ≡3 kpc, the best set of galactic rotation constants obtained is: A = 16±1.5 km s-1kpc-1; U0 = -9.7±1.3 km s-1; V0 = 13.0±1.1 km s-1. A review of some other similar works shows that the agreement for the value of A is very good, on the condition that the results are corrected for the bias introduced by the random errors on the distances. Furthermore, four main methods for determining the solar motion are reviewed. For each method, the internal agreement between the various determinations is rather good. However, the discrepancies from one method to another are very large.
