The authors present multicolor surface photometry of a sample of blue compact galaxies with recession velocities close to 1000 km s-1. These galaxies are dwarfs undergoing strong star formation activity. They may be genuine young galaxies. It is been found that the star formation knots are close to the centers of these galaxies and sequentially ordered in space from the redder to the bluer. This supports a propagating star formation process.
