Some aspects of interaction between galaxies are discussed. Strong interactions involving (separately) the giant galaxies NGC 4038/39 and NGC 3995 are noted along with mass redistribution due to nuclear activity and fragmentation, the statistics of interacting galaxies, and possible effects of interaction on galactic nuclei. It is suggested that the combined effect of interaction may be expected to cause a partial dissipation of matter in at least half of all galaxies and that the partial escape of matter from galaxies will be accompanied by a saturation of intergalactic space with gas, stars, and dwarf galaxies. The extended halo of the giant elliptical M87 is tentatively attributed to the perturbing action of Virgo cluster galaxies passing close to M87.
