Considerations reported by Craig and Brown (1976) are critically examined, taking into account an advice for caution in connection with some of the limitations of X-ray astronomy. Attention is given to questions concerning the consideration of the simplest model and more complex models, the value of emission measure analysis, aspects of high wavelength resolution spectroscopy, and the advances made in the field of spectroscopic diagnostics of space plasmas since 1970. The comments made by Brown and Craig in reply to the various observations are also presented, giving attention to questions regarding the simplicity of models, the validity of the analysis, and aspects of originality and accuracy.
