Studies of the large scale distribution of electron density in M42 and M8 are discussed. It is concluded that the bulk of the ionized material is concentrated in a multitude of small clumps. Large scale variations in ionization structure in M42 are illustrated in a graph. Another graph presented shows small scale variations in ionization structure in the core of M42. Questions concerning the characteristics of the motions found in H II regions are also explored.
