The impact of data from spacecraft such as Voyager on plasma astrophysics, cosmogeny and cosmology is discussed. Astrophysical fields which must be revised are listed, including double layers, energy transfer, and critical velocity. The shortcomings of the Chapman-Cowling theory are highlighted. The development of semiempirical theories is advocated.
