Results are discussed for observations of Nova Cygni 1975 performed between September 2 and October 7, 1975, using a scanning spectrophotometer. The nova's absolute spectral energy distribution over the wavelength range from 3300 to 7500 A is obtained, and the temporal evolution of nova radiation in the main emission lines as well as in three continuum regions is traced. Analysis of these data indicates that the gas shell and the star made comparable contributions to the detected continuum emission during the observation period and that shock interactions played an important role in shell excitation in the first two postmaximum weeks. The star's radius is estimated to have been 6.0, 3.4, and 1.1 solar radii, respectively, on the 23rd, 38th, and 100th day after the outburst.
