The Bjurboele meteorite, a stony meteorite, is an L chondrite IV petrological type with spherical olivine-hypersthene chondrules. Procedures used to search samples of the meteorite for indications of transuranium elements are described. No evidence was found in olivine samples, but appropriate fission fragment tracks were detected in whitlockite samples. In a discussion concerning the question of what elements were responsible for producing the tracks, it is noted that in similar situations the tracks are often ascribed to Pu-244, the most stable transuranium element, although factors which suggest the possibility of other elements in particular those with an atomic number of about 114, are examined.
