The relationships between the colors and redshifts of quasars are used
to synthesize the optical and near ultraviolet spectrum of an 'average'
quasar, using a refinement of a method originally devised by Sandage.
The derived spectrum is used to compute the variation of the
K-correction with redshift for quasars for the U, B and V wavebands.
