The plane of symmetry, structure and photometric qualities of the Gegenschein of zodiacal light were studied on the bases of four super-wide angle plates exposed at observatories in Chile and Switzerland. The examinations were confined to an antisolar point. Repetitive microdensitometer scans of the plates revealed that the plane of symmetry is significantly inclined relative to the ecliptic. Profile averaging showed the zodiacal light has three Gaussian components deviating 1-6 deg from the plane of symmetry. Finally, maps of relative intensity were generated and are provided.
