A new interferometer system is being developed in which the Nobeyama 45 m telescope is connected with the six 10 m dishes of the Nobeyama Millimeter Array (NMA). This seven-element array is called the "Rainbow Array". The Rainbow Array can achieve ≡2.2 times higher signal to noise ratio compared to the NMA obervations. The Rainbow Array is expected to carry out more sensitive observations of molecular-line and continuum emission from various astronomical objects.
