For isolated physical pairs of spiral galaxies in Karachentsev's (1972) catalog, the authors show that where the difference in brightness is greater than one magnitude, the fainter galaxy has a significantly higher redshift on the average. This result confirms, in an independent sample of morphologically similar galaxies, the result which has come from every other test of companion galaxies - that they are systematically higher in redshift than the brighter galaxy.
