The darkness of sunspots has been attributed to the inhibition of the normal solar convective processes by the presence of strong magnetic fields. An investigation is conducted of the structure of individual cells of the solar photospheric granulation pattern. A description is given of a situation in which the magnetic field is concentrated by the convective processes along the upper and lower cell boundaries. Under the conditions considered the actual individual cells would show a much stronger field present than the actual strength of the underlying unperturbed field.
