The possibility of the observed rotation of an asteroid having been acquired in collisions with other members of an asteroid family is discussed. It is shown that when the mass of the main asteroid constitutes the greater part of the total mass its rotational moment might have come from the impact of a smaller body with subsequent formation of the family.
