The Nearby Supernova Factory reports that spectra (range 320-1000 nm) of supernovae 2006aq (in MCG +07-24-32, CBET 419) and 2006ar (in MCG +11-13-36, CBET 420), obtained March 07.6 and 07.5 UT (respectively) with the Supernova Integral Field Spectrograph on the University of Hawaii 2.2-meter telescope, show that SN 2006aq is of Type II and SN 2006ar is of Type Ia. The spectrum of SN 2006aq is similar to that of the Type IIb SN 1993J at an approximate redshift of z = 0.05.
